Drake is the latest celebrity to tap into the “Get Unready With Me” video trend, and because I am who I am, I made note of every single product. After a long night of meandering around his mega-mansion – inclusive of a quick cocktail-making session and cold plunge – the rapper took a shower and did his nighttime skin-care routine. His starting lineup included the Peter Thomas Roth Complexion Correction Pads ($48), the Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate ($57), and the famous Caudalie Beauty Elixir ($49).

That last product has long been lauded by makeup artists and skin-care enthusiasts alike as a crucial step in everyday skin maintenance. Some people use it in place of toner, while others keep it handy for a quick mist to provide the skin with a boost of hydration. With that stamp of approval (from beauty pros and the rapper himself), I decided to give the Beauty Elixir a try for myself. Read ahead for my full review.

About the Caudalie Beauty Elixir

  • The Caudalie Beauty Elixir comes in a glass bottle and has a spray applicator.
  • It’s a multipurpose product, as it preps skin, tightens pores, and sets makeup.
  • Standout ingredients include rosemary and rose essential oils, which provide a visible glow on the skin after use.
  • The formula is 100 percent natural and comes in easily recyclable packaging.

What I Like About the Caudalie Beauty Elixir

First, I’m in love with the aromatherapy aspect of this spray. I’m typically not one for fragranced beauty products, but the notes of mint and lemon balm in the formula are incredibly grounding, which makes using this spray a truly relaxing experience.

The elixir also leaves behind an undeniable glow that lasts long after the formula has seeped into the skin – I can totally understand why makeup artists would use it as skin prep before product application. When I wear it over a full face, it perfectly refreshes hours-old makeup and makes it appear almost freshly applied again. Additionally, the mister on this spray is extremely gentle; I don’t flinch when the product hits my face because it just feels like a light cooling sensation.

As far as skin-care benefits go, the first ingredient listed is water, which means you can think of this as a tall drink for your skin. The elixir also has ingredients like grape extract for antioxidant properties and retaining skin elasticity.

How to Use the Caudalie Beauty Elixir

In his video, Drake sprayed the elixir directly onto his skin in place of a toner after using the complexion pads. Then he sealed everything in with the Kiehl’s Recovery Concentrate. I, however, prefer to use this spray as a facial mist throughout the day. I love spritzing it on, waiting a few seconds, and taking deep breaths. In the end, not only is my face more hydrated, but this application technique encourages mindfulness in my busy days.

What to Consider About the Caudalie Beauty Elixir

The price tag for this product is pretty steep, but to be fair, a bottle will last you a very long time. This is another perk of the ultra-fine mist – not much product is wasted because your entire face is covered with just a few sprays.
