I have often described my dry skin as the bane of my existence. Other than my hormonal acne, it’s the one thing that can take a regular day from good to bad in just a few seconds. Dryness affects my confidence when it comes to leaving my apartment fresh-faced without makeup, but it also has the power to make my makeup look absolutely terrible. There’s nothing worse than attempting to apply foundation over dry, patchy skin.
My dryness has always been something I’ve had to toe the line with since I’m also acne-prone. My skin craves thick, moisturizing ingredients, but often, those products are too heavy for me and wind up breaking me out. Recently, I started using the Hero Cosmetics Glow Balm ($20), and it’s been a complete game changer for my beauty routine. Multi-use products are in this year, and this new product is as versatile as it gets.

What I Like About the Hero Cosmetics Glow Balm
This product helps keep my skin hydrated and flake-free, which is my number one reason for being obsessed with it. I also love that it’s compact and easily fits in almost all of my purses (minus the micro ones). It’s been a lifesaver more times than I can count when I’m out for the night with friends or on a date.
When I find myself in front of a bathroom mirror and noticing that I have a few flakes around my nose (or more than a few – let’s be honest), instead of spending 15 minutes trying to pick them off, which is practically impossible with my long nails, I can just apply this product. It makes flakes disappear while acting like a highlighter, leaving my skin ultra glowy.
I use it all over my face, and I haven’t run into any issues. Even with my sensitive skin, I haven’t had acne, dermatitis, or other weird reactions. I’ve also found that it works great as a cuticle hydrator – I love applying it around my nails whenever they’re looking funky.
How to Use the Hero Cosmetics Glow Balm
The brand suggests gliding it onto the face anywhere skin is dull or dry, like the cheeks and forehead, and reapplying as needed. When I’m working from home, I keep this product front and center on my desk, and when I’m out and about, I slip it into my purse. I use it on my entire face, from my lips to my nose, cheeks, and even underneath my eyes. I glide it over bare skin as well as on top of my makeup whenever I need a boost in hydration. My nose tends to get patchy if I use too much makeup around the area, but the Glow Balm makes the dryness disappear immediately.
What to Consider Before Trying the Hero Cosmetics Glow Balm
If you have oily skin, you may not have a use for this product in your routine. Because its purpose is to boost hydration and add radiance, it could make oily skin look a little slick. However, if you have dry, normal, or even combination skin and want to up your hydration, it’s a great solution.
