I’ve spent 0.01 percent of my precious time on this Earth contemplating my bed frame. Have you ever discussed bed frames with friends over beers? As an apartment-dweller on a media salary, a king-size bed was a pipe dream for years. It’s almost ridiculous to assume a New Yorker will have the space for one: I’ve lived in apartments where my entire room was smaller than a king-sized bed. Once I relocated(ish) to a Palm Beach condo, I finally had enough space to accommodate one.

What I Like About Castlery’s Dalton Storage Bed
The Dalton Storage Bed was in stock when we ordered and arrived within a week and a half (!). It’s the most difficult Castlery bed to assemble, according to the on-ground delivery team but I still rejected their offer to do it for us. My husband would tackle it – marriage is all about giving your spouse opportunities to shine. He found assembly to be simple, but notes that you need plenty of space in your work area, since the largest drawer pushes straight in.
At first inspection, the vacuous storage potential alarmed me: the Dalton Storage Bed features a gigantic, bed-width drawer at the foot of the bed, plus two smaller (yet still substantial) drawers on the top sides of the bed. Immediately, my mind raced with ideas on how to optimize the space.
Then came the fun part: seeing exactly how much I could store within my own bed, which includes but isn’t limited to an entire dresser’s worth of clothing, two Hulken bags of beauty products, baggage from 10 years of dating in NYC, and the shameful laundry I shove in there when guests arrive. Due to the ludicrously capacious drawers, I was able to move my dresser and armoire out of my bedroom and into a guest bedroom. Now, my guests have less living space, but I have plenty. In their place, we moved a couch into our bedroom. We’re a long way from Manhattan now, folks.
Aesthetically, I like how the elegant, wingback headboard resembles a swan gliding through the water. The versatile “Beach Linen” color of the fabric complements both monochromatic and colorful bedscapes. And its soft texture provides a lovely cocoon to nestle into, especially if you’re accustomed to a hard headboard.

What’s Worth Noting About Castlery’s Dalton Storage Bed
Some storage beds host storage under the mattress, which necessitates lifting the actual frame up, DeLorean-style, to reach your items. With the Castlery Dalton Storage Bed, you can luxuriate in bed with all three of the compartments open, if you so choose. I’ve seen people utilize the bottom drawer as a massive dog bed – even a Great Dane could comfortably sleep down there.
Warning: if you have young rescue kittens (or any critters that climb), they will likely scale the bed’s fabric frame. In my home, this is a pro, but I can see how others may consider it a con. Furniture tape can help prevent cat ascension.
Who’s Castlery’s Dalton Storage Bed Best For?
I never thought I’d be “that girl” raving about her bed frame to anyone within earshot – but I was previously only privy to a feckless metal rectangle. You don’t have to compromise between a grand and cloud-like bed and actual space in your boudoir: If you’re not sleeping blissfully above pounds of your concealed shit, you’re doing it wrong.
Anyone who appreciates style and needs storage will love this bed. It’s a stealthy way to stash anything from laundry to extra linens, and unlike an actual storage unit or vacuum bags, they’re easily accessible.
I also think the soft, fabric frame and headboard are safe for young children. But don’t take my word for it: peruse any of the best-selling frame’s numerous 5-star reviews, which average out to 4.8 stars. If you’re worried about being original like I am (except regarding my Starbucks order), I haven’t seen this exact bed in a home beyond my own, but certainly similar ones.
