Truthfully, I’ve never given body care much thought. My routine has always been pretty simple: shower gel and body lotion. Maybe a body oil if my skin is feeling particularly dry. But after ending up on the shower-routine side of TikTok, I’ve been inspired to give my body a little more TLC. If I’m using retinol and SPF on my face, it only makes sense to use products that can help the skin on the rest of my body age gracefully. So when I heard about Iota’s new firming and lifting
According to the brand, the leave-on mask works to deeply nourish and tighten the skin on areas like your chest, rear, thighs, triceps, and abdomen. I was unsurprisingly drawn to the mask’s anti-aging benefits, but another thing that stood out was the mention of a warming, sensorial experience from the spice in the product. I love spicy foods and drinks, so I couldn’t help but wonder – do I need spicy, lifting body-care products in my life? And can my sensitive skin handle it? I tested it out to see for myself.

What I Like About Iota’s Superchili Body Mask+
I was a little intimidated by the mask (and the Sichuan pepper of it all), but it soon became my favorite product in my after-shower routine. I love everything about this mask, starting with the luxurious scent. It has a refreshing herbal and citrusy fragrance that’s perfect for creating an at-home spa experience.
Once I slathered it on, I was surprised by the texture of the product. I expected the leave-on mask to be super rich, but was pleasantly surprised by how creamy and lightweight it was. It’s still thicker than my everyday lotion but absorbs into the skin more quickly than a thick body butter would. When it comes to the spicy sensation, I’d say that the “icy to firm” then “hot to lift” description is pretty accurate. I applied it to my chest, thighs, butt, stomach, and the backs of my arms, and felt the cooling sensation right away. It only lasted for a few minutes before the warming sensation kicked in and reminded me of Icy Hot or VapoRub on the skin (the latter is nostalgic for me, so I appreciated it). The tingling sensation lasted somewhere between 20 and 25 minutes.
I checked my skin immediately after applying and throughout the 25 minutes and am happy to report that I never experienced any redness or irritation. It wasn’t too spicy for my sensitive skin and did a great job of leaving my skin feeling hydrated and super soft. I’ll have to use the body mask long-term to really see the anti-aging benefits, but the lines on my chest and thighs are less obvious and my skin looks smoother overall. I’ve been using it on repeat this summer, but can’t wait to use it in the winter, when that warming sensation will be especially satisfying.
How to Use the Iota Superchili Body Mask+
For best results, the brand says to apply the mask on clean skin and on targeted areas like the bust, rear, thighs, triceps, and abdomen. It can be used daily, alone or layered under other serums or lotions – but only after the warming sensation of the mask subsides. I personally found the mask to be thicker than other body-care products I use, so I opted to use it at night as a final step in my post-shower routine.
What to Consider Before Trying the Iota Superchili Body Mask+
The Superchili Body Mask+ does deliver an icy-hot sensation that lingers for 20-25 minutes. If you’re uncertain about whether you’ll like that feeling, be sure to patch test the product before using it. The mask is also scented with rosemary leaf and lime, which is something to consider if you prefer fragrance-free body products.
Who Is the Iota Superchili Body Mask+ Best For?
This mask is great for anyone who is looking for a body mask that firms and smooths targeted areas, but hydrates dry and crepey skin at the same time. The mask is safe for sensitive skin, too – so it might be a good alternative to something like a retinol lotion that can be more irritating.
Where Is the Iota Superchili Body Mask+ Available?
