The arousal serum: a seemingly magical elixir that heats things up when the mood strikes. As a sex and relationships writer, I’ve tried many arousal serums in my time, but I’ve never been impressed. The truth is, I’ve always hated them, until I tried out a new one that came in bright orange packaging: The Epiphany Clit Arousal Serum ($34), a new arousal serum created by a team of women specifically for folks with a clitoris, has shifted my opinion.
After previously trying arousal serum after arousal serum (solo and with partners), I always found that it either didn’t really feel like anything, had an unpleasant burning sensation that no one wants, or was way too sticky for my liking. If anything, I usually found these products to be way less arousing than they intended, and actually, well, annoying. And who wants that?
According to Epiphany’s website, the serum ignites a warm and tingling sensation – without the unwanted burn – to increase pleasure for folks with a clitoris, heighten awareness, and make solo or partnered play that much more sexy.
And I’ve got to say, after years of hating arousal serums, using Epiphany has changed my perspective on arousal products. In fact, after using it a few times, it has left me truly mind-blown; I’ve even started recommending it to all my friends. Here’s why, below.
What’s the Criteria For a Good Arousal Serum?
Ok so what actually makes for a good arousal serum? The short answer is that it depends on the person using it and their preferences.
But my answer, and my opinion, is that a good arousal serum shouldn’t just make you feel aroused, but it should be non-irritating, gentle yet active, and of course, non-sticky. I don’t know about you, but it’s not a great feeling being too sticky from lube or serum.
What I Like About the Epiphany Arousal Serum
There is a lot that I like about Epiphany. On first use, I looked at the packaging – a slim, bright orange lip-gloss-looking tube – and thought about how discreet it looked. Anyone could tuck it away in a purse or throw it in a carry-on bag, and no one would ever know they’re toting around an arousal powerhouse.
I also really like how inconspicuous it feels. Unlike other arousal serums I’ve tried that have immediately felt tingly in all the wrong ways, using the Epiphany Arousal Serum feels like a slow (and gentle) roll into being more aroused. When I first used it, I squeezed it out of the tube and rubbed it on my clit, and noticed that my body didn’t immediately feel anything, but after a few minutes went by, I could tell that my body reacted without feeling like it was reacting from a serum. It aided the process without being the reason for it.
The serum is slightly tingly, but just enough without being overbearing. It also feels a little warming, without feeling on fire. All to say, for me, it’s just the right amount of spice.
When I’ve used it, either solo or with a partner, I’ve also loved how non-sticky and non-scented it is. To me, it’s frustrating when a product distracts you from the sexual experience you’re having, and this certainly didn’t do that.
What to Consider Before Buying the Epiphany Arousal Serum
If you’re someone who is thinking about buying this serum, consider this: one study in the Journal of Sex & Marital Therapy revealed that 96 percent of people with clitorises say their most reliable route to orgasm is clitoral stimulation alone or paired with penetration. While only 4 percent say penetration alone leads to an orgasm.
If you’re someone who is looking for new ways to reach an orgasm during solo or partnered sex (without always having to use a sex toy), then this serum might be a way to enhance your experience in an unobtrusive way. It may just help you focus on your connection with your partner, instead of logistics, and fully enjoy the ride, no matter where you fall on the gender spectrum.
Who the Epiphany Arousal Serum Is Best For
The Epiphany Arousal Serum is best for people with a clitoris seeking to heighten sensations during masturbation or sex, however, you could also explore using it if you’re a person with a penis, too. Ultimately, this arousal serum is packed with feel-good ingredients that can heighten anyone’s most sensitive of areas.
