“Los Angeles is known as the city of dreams. And sure enough, all my dreams have come true here.” Crunch. It was in that moment that Jessica Williams might have been rethinking that dream altogether.
As the actor participated in a scripted opening segment at the 2025 SAG Awards on Feb. 23, her “Shrinking” costar Harrison Ford chomped away at a chip of some kind. Yes, directly in the shot right behind Williams, who then went rogue from the teleprompter: “I told him to turn away!” While suppressing giggles, Williams added, “Don’t look!” Ford then turned his chair and seemingly continued his bite as the segment went on. That’s showbiz, baby.
While the now viral award show moment ended with the costars laughing it out and playfully jabbing each other, we as viewers had many remaining questions. Namely, what the hell could have been so good that Ford simply couldn’t stop snacking for the entirety of that roughly 50-second segment?
As it turns out, honey butter chips.
The menu at this year’s SAG Awards was crafted by chef David Chang and Momofuku. The honey butter chips in question were left in bowls on each table, while the plated food consisted of Momofuku’s signature cold fried chicken, a salmon and vegetable kimbap duo, and pickled vegetables. Later on in the evening, pizza from Pizzeria Bianco was also passed around. The wine pairing included white and red blends done in partnership with Cooper’s Hawk, a winery and restaurant with locations throughout the country.
Just like those lavish gift bags, award show menus are always the stuff of intrigue, especially since the food so often appears untouched. (Lest we forget the elaborate Grammys charcuterie boards that were so sadly neglected.) So, in a way, it was refreshing to see an attendee so gleefully enjoy the food that was carefully planned and prepped . . . even if the timing left a little something to be desired.
And really, we should be thanking that golden-brown honey butter chip! It gave us the kind of candid, off-the-cuff moment that award shows (and, well, memes) are made of. There are no small parts, after all.
