Hailey Bieber is kicking her cappuccino fix for a harder hair color this fall: espresso.
The Rhode founder and style mogul updated her brunette coloring in time for the Saint Laurent spring 2027 presentation on Tuesday during Paris Fashion Week, where she sat front and center next to fellow brand ambassador and “It Girl” Zoë Kravitz and French actress Adèle Exarchopoulos.
The three women were assembled like “Charlie’s Angels” — or, in this case, creative director Anthony Vaccarello’s angels — with Bieber capping the end, the moody hue coating her over-grown bob. The color was just barely visible in the camera flash, appearing more black than dark brown. Naturally, her nails were painted a similar shade she’s been known to favor in falls past.

Bieber sneakily unveiled her new hair late last week, posting a mirror selfie with a white heart emoji to her Instagram Stories. Fans were quick to comment on the color, courtesy of artist Matt Rez, though the fashion afficiando purposefully kept the caption quiet. Rez — whose A-list roster also includes Lili Reinhart, Rachel Sennott and Florence Pugh — didn’t go into too much detail on his page either, sharing only a short slidedeck of Bieber in London.
But for the fans who have been here for awhile, this is noticeably the darkest shade of brown Bieber’s sported in years. And she’s not the only one to make the seasonal switch.
Ella Bright returned from filming “Off Campus” Season Two with a similar espresso shade kissing her curls at the MTV Video Music Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday night. All signs of the beloved series lead and her soft, youthful aesthetic were wiped clean and replaced by the grunge aesthetic. In comments sent to WWD, Adir Abergel, the hair artist behind Bright’s ’90s texture that night, described the color as “a richer, more saturated brunette,” crediting the vintage Roberto Cavalli corset gown as the inspiration.
Elsewhere on the carpet, Best New Artist winner Sienna Spiro fueled the espresso obsession but with a ’60s-inspired twist imagined by international hairstylist Jack Luckhurst. Brushed-out barrel curls were parted over the left side of her forehead, spilling over the front of her sequin dress. With so much volume below the chin, you’d think the top would fall flat in comparison, but there was just as much zhuzh, if not more, at her crown.
Celebrity hair visionary Cody Renegar predicted “espresso girl fall” long before any of the “It Girls” debuted the hue. Speaking with WWD back in August, Renegar guessed there’d be a burgeoning affinity for “deep chocolate browns and creamy beige blonds,” along with the continued rise of “espresso melt,” a color technique that involves blending dark roots with subtle highlights this cold weather season. Safe to say, he was right.
