Ivanka Trump found a classic pair of summer shoes for her trip to Venice, Italy. The daughter of U.S. President Donald Trump and her husband, Jared Kushner, landed at the Venice Marco Polo airport on Tuesday to attend the three-day wedding party for Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez. Trump and her family were spotted as they headed to a taxi boat, and she sported a pair of traditional espadrilles from Spain.
Trump’s pair featured five straps across the upper, giving the shoe a caged-toe appeal, with two rope slingback straps around the heel, a round toe and a slim rope tie around the ankle. The shoes feature a peek-a-boo caged detail in the toe-box area, allowing the feet to breathe in warmer weather. The brand Ibiza Traditional offers a similar style, called Espardenyes, which retails for around $190 online.

Espadrilles are a type of footwear characterized by a rope sole and can include flats, wedges and other designs. The style originated in Spain and France, with its history dating back to the 13th century. They were initially crafted by hand, with artisans weaving the esparto grass to create the shoes. The shoes were initially worn by farmers, peasants, fishermen, miners and soldiers due to their affordability and comfort, especially in hotter climates. The word “espadrille” originates from “esparto,” a type of Mediterranean grass used to craft the shoe’s distinctive rope soles.
Trump paired her shoes with a matching set from La DoubleJ for the outing with her family, who were dressed comfortably in Jordans and other sneakers. She wore La DoubleJ’s Medallion Placée Cream Baia crop top.
The bralette features a deep neckline, thick shoulder straps, and a hand-placed red and orange. She paired the top with a Baia skirt, which is a cross between a pencil skirt and an A-line silhouette, that is form-fitting at the top and gently flares at the hem, giving it a breezy, vacation-ready appeal.
Bezos’ wedding is reportedly bringing about 200 guests to the Italian city to celebrate his and Sanchez’s nuptials. The celebration is scheduled to take place from Thursday to Saturday, culminating in a ceremony at a secret location.
