LONDON — For Nadine Ghosn, designing jewelry and collaborating with others is all about evoking the senses.
Her latest project with the audio specialist brand Bose concerns sound and touch. She has designed two special headphones customized with metals and gems for Bose ambassadors Coco Gauff and Anthony Edwards.
Ghosn’s approach has been to take very nostalgic items and turn them into something extraordinary.
Gauff’s headphones feature approximately 110 grams of 18-karat rose and white gold; 1,180 handset stones; around 26 carats of vivid rainbow sapphires and over one carat of diamonds.

Meanwhile, Edwards’ piece is made up of almost 100 grams of 18-karat gold; 420 handset stones; 4.5 carats of blue sapphires and 1.5 carats of diamonds.
“There’s also an element of surprise [in designing] because I want to surprise them. I want them to have a piece that they really love and echoes a lot of their work,” said Ghosn in an interview.
She added the American basketball player’s jersey number to the right headphone. “It’s a number that he’s emotionally attached to and it was all about glorifying it,” she said.
Gauff’s headphones are a nod to the vibrancy and dynamicity of tennis. Ghosn designed waves that cover the headphones with half of it in rose gold and the other in white gold, a mismatched technique that she loves to play around with.
“There’s a playfulness about mismatch [style] and it’s uncommon,” said Ghosn.
She added a personal touch to the headphones on the inside too. The ear pads contain 25 grams of gold in a thin slate that has each respective athlete’s initials.
Working with athletes is a new segway for Ghosn, whose intricate and colorful designs have caught the attention of Beyoncé, Drake and Lil Yachty.
“[Athletes] are extremely good at what they do and there’s a level of focus and attention. People who look up to them and respect them also look up to their style and take note of what they’re wearing and how they’re breaking the fashion rule book,” said the jewelry designer.
