Jill Biden flourished with a re-wear in Schiaparelli on Saturday at Pope Francis’ funeral at St. Peter’s Square in Rome.
The former U.S. first lady previously used the bespoke outfit in January for President Jimmy Carter’s funeral and in 2022 for Queen Elizabeth II’s farewell.
The blazer and skirt set was a statement-maker for traditional somber dress codes. The jacket’s fastening down the center was lined with illuminating flower-shaped buttons as the surrealist hardware featured an organic, triangular gold frame that held pearls encircling sparkling teardrop crystals and a crystal centerpiece.
Flowers and floral motifs express a range of symbolism, from elegance to remembrance—and Biden’s bijoux buttons demonstrated both while in mourning.
