Go big or go home. Such was the motto evoked by Kate Hudson and her bouffant hairstyle at the 2025 Gotham Film Awards in New York on Monday, where actors, directors, producers and music artists alike gathered to celebrate this year’s class of honorees.
To ring in the night, the 46-year-old actress turned singer teased her muddy blond roots before brushing her hair all the way back, tucking the sides loosely behind her ears.

The style toed the line of the slicked wet hair trend, favored by both Kim Kardashian and Kaia Gerber. However, only Hudson’s roots were greased; her ends were glossy and straight without the appearance of hair gel. The look was imagined and created by artist Marcus Francis, with whom Hudson has been working recently. Francis has collaborated with every blond bombshell under the sun, from Pamela Anderson to Glenn Close.
For her makeup, Hudson tapped the talented Quinn Murphy, who kept her base clean and even-toned, with only a hint of peach-toned blush on her cheeks. The warmth of her blush brought out the taupe liner and rich amber gloss on her lips. Meanwhile, her eyes were accentuated with rose-colored shimmer and black mascara on her top and bottom lashes.
Elsewhere at the annual awards ceremony, Rihanna played with hues on the opposite end of the color wheel, melting a kaleidoscope of gray and charcoal over her lids and up into her brow bone. Her lashes were coated with mascara, while her waterline was lined with black. If not for her lips, which were bare in the middle and brown around the edges, her makeup would’ve resembled the classic 1990s grunge aesthetic.
