Katie Holmes is collaborating with a longtime favorite brand for a new collection. Holmes and A.P.C. have come together for Interaction #24, the latest capsule collection between the actress and producer and the French ready-to-wear brand. The collection launches on Thursday.
Holmes has worn A.P.C., an abbreviation for Atelier de Production et de Création, pieces and designs since the 1990s. “A.P.C. is a beautiful French brand and one that I have loved since I discovered it,” Holmes said. “The simplicity of design is born out of sophisticated consistency to details and form. A.P.C. is not only elegant in life, but I have also used it many times for costumes in film as its classic design is timeless.”
Holmes found inspiration for this latest interaction from the A.P.C. archives in Paris. The actress hand-picked designs that best suited her own fashion choices, speaking to her style sensibility.
“I love vintage and truly enjoyed stepping into the memories of A.P.C. garments of the past,” Holmes said. “Bringing the inspiration from collections from the early 2000s and working to make them modern and relevant to the 2024 customer was such a joyful and satisfying experience.”
The final result is a collection that yields to French elegance with a New York City edge. Among the pieces included in Holmes’ Interaction #24 are sandals, jeans, miniskirts, blouses and a pastel-colored quilt inspired by a design made by Holmes’ own mother.
Holmes collaborated with Jean and Judith Touitou on the collection. Jean founded A.P.C. in 1987, while Judith serves as the artistic director for the fashion label. “They opened their creative process to me,” Holmes said of working with the Touitous. “They welcomed my ideas and we built this together. I learned from their artistic eyes about shape, form and color. It has truly been a joy and a reminder that collaboration with kindness brings about beautiful and authentic work.”
Ultimately, Holmes approached the collection as an opportunity to create a complete wardrobe, one in which the wearer can mix and match pieces. The collection features a variety of day looks and night looks.
Pieces can also be worn in professional and playful settings.
In this interaction, Holmes sees tradition as its defining quality, emphasizing “The thread of generations that live within each of us,” she said. “Vintage inspiring modern. Honoring our past. Tradition.”
