Keen threw in an entry for the sneaker loafer craze at the beginning of the fall with a handwoven and hand-stitched silhouette that sold out in just 48 hours. Months later, and just in time for last-minute holiday shopping, a follow-up is coming with the unique luster of cordovan leather.

The Keen Uneek Loafer WK will return this week in burgundy-brown cordovan leather. The upper maintains a prototypical loafer silhouette while adding handwoven leather cords above the toe box and wrapping around the collar. A more athletic sole unit then delivers a propulsive rocker shape with high-rebound foam and a high-traction outsole, and natural ingredients have been added to help keep odors at bay.

Each pair is a numbered edition with individual numerals debossed at the lateral heel.

Cordovan is used to describe both dark burgundy color and a specific type of shell leather that originates from Cordoba, Spain. Given that Keen uses the term only in the color section of the product description and has priced it at just $200, it’s unlikely that the shoe is made with more expensive, durable and crease-resistant leather derived from a horse’s rear end. The leather at play is confirmed, however, as premium and sourced from a tannery certified by LWG, its environmental and social practices.

The Keen Uneek Loafer WK in “Cordovan” will release on Thursday through Keen’s website and select third-party retailers.
