Kendall Jenner just shocked her social media followers with an intense hair switch-up and it’s not what you’d expect this time of year. Since fall is making its way to our doorsteps as we speak, we usually see celebrities opt for darker shades when it comes to hair, nails, and makeup. Jenner, however, is doing things a little differently. The naturally dark brunette debuted a new shade of “syrup blond,” and to say we’re obsessed would be the understatement of the century. She posted a carousel of her new look on Instagram with the caption “blonded,” and showed an array of photos spotlighting her new look.
Earlier this month, we saw a maple-syrup manicure moment thanks to Hailey Bieber, and it looks like the trend is getting sticky – pun fully intended. Syrup blond hair color resembles the look of the gooey liquid when light hits it, with tones of vanilla, caramel, and gold. For blonds, it adds depth; for brunettes, it adds reflection.
Jenner’s color, in particular, came to life thanks to celebrity hairstylist Jenna Perry, who has touched the color of some very famous heads – including Kaia Gerber, Bella Hadid, and Emily Ratajkowski. She also got a cut, which was handled by stylist Jessica Gillis.
Although Jenner doesn’t switch up her hair color often, she has been blond before. Previously, she dyed her hair in 2019 for the Burberry show at London Fashion Week, and she’s also sported a few light-colored wigs for special events, like Halloween. (We haven’t forgotten about her stellar Pamela Anderson costume.)
Those who are already blond can achieve the look with a simple tone or gloss that adds warmth. If you’re brunette and looking to take the leap just as Jenner did, we’d suggest visiting a professional colorist who can help you through the process, as it may take more than one visit to the salon to get the shade just right.
