Laura and Deanna Fanning offered a trippy, yet elevated, lineup for spring 2024 inspired by Vionnet and Madame Grès.

Sophisticated cutting techniques were involved in the making of those flowy, elegant dresses in white, pale green, and light gray. Together with bold spiral stripes in knits, and hairdos that matched the pattern, it was a hallucinatory fantasy where Y2K meets old-school high fashion.

“This collection we looked at female designers we really respect and admire. With knitwear, we were thinking about key fashion references like Sonia Rykiel, while also thinking about how patchwork can turn into a 3D prototype. We were also thinking about Vionnet with bias cutting. How she drapes the fabric straight around the body and then brings the glimmering gleam of the 1930s into the collection today,” said the duo backstage.

They also jumped on the “ugly” beauty shoe bandwagon with the introduction of a hybrid style, where the napa leather gives the detail of a brogue, while the use of glove leather and mesh shows that it’s also based on a traditional sports shoe.
