Lace was all of the rage during Saturday night’s twelfth annual LACMA Art + Film Gala in Los Angeles, with stars like Jennifer Lopez, Lupita Nyong’o and Daisy Edgar-Jones sporting the sheer fabric.
As reported by WWD, lingerie-inspired garments are one of this season’s top trends. Labels including Giorgio Armani, Fendi and Rodarte, among others, sent lace slips, camis and skirts down the runway during their fall 2023 presentations. Naturally, the celebrity set is following suit.
Ahead, a recap of the best lace looks at this year’s LACMA Art + Film Gala.
Jennifer Lopez
Lopez opted for a sheer Gucci evening gown featuring bodice cutouts, embellished floral embroidery and a thigh-high slit. The singer and beauty entrepreneur accessorized with a shimmery Tyler Ellis envelope clutch and nude platform sandals by Andrea Wazen. Her jewelry included a cuff bracelet, dangle earrings and a statement necklace adorned with a large ruby.
Lupita Nyong’o
Nyong’o wore a maroon slip-inspired gown by Gucci. The plunging piece featured dotted lace and floral panels on the bodice. The Oscar-winning actress added on a jeweled dangle choker, stud earrings and a chunky halo band by De Beers.
Daisy Edgar-Jones
Edgar-Jones sported a black Gucci gown featuring lace panels and a thigh-high slit. Strappy high-heeled sandals, dangle earrings and a shaggy updo completed the English actress’ look.
Greta Lee
Greta Lee’s sheer mint-hued frock featured black lace panels. The actress kept her accessories to a minimum, adding on black high-heeled sandals and a simple ring.
Stella Maxwell
Supermodel Stella Maxwell selected an embellished halter neck gown with lace panels, ruffles and cross-hatch cutouts. Accessorizing with cocktail rings and black pumps, Maxwell wore her blond tresses in a slicked-back style.
Sofia Boutella
Sofia Boutella’s Gucci ensemble consisted of a baggy high-neck jumpsuit featuring a flowing sheer train. Layered over a lace cami, the actress also added on a choker necklace and sharp black pumps.
Staged by the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the 2023 LACMA Art + Film Gala celebrates painter Judy Baca and filmmaker David Fincher. The twelfth annual fete will be co-chaired by LACMA trustee Eva Chow and actor Leonardo DiCaprio.
