Laverne Cox continued to show her love for Thierry Mugler on the 2024 People’s Choice Awards red carpet on Sunday in Los Angeles. The actress hosted the red carpet show for E! wearing a vintage look created by the late designer in 1988.
Cox’s outfit featured a black velvet corset, crafted with flexible wire intricately sewn into the fabric lining, forming the silhouette of wings. Her look was completed by a sheer black skirt covered in crystals.
Cox has spoken about her admiration for Thierry Mugler’s work many times before. She reportedly owns more than 500 pieces created by the designer.
On Jan. 16, she hosted the Emmy Awards 2023 red carpet show wearing an archival piece from Mugler’s 1989 spring collection. Her look, named “Les Echineides” or “Sea Urchins,” featured chromatic colorways, fin-like textural elements and high-contrast angular edges.
In October 2023, Cox sat front row at the Mugler’s womenswear spring 2024 show in Paris, wearing a black bra from the brand with a shiny blazer.
At the 2024 People’s Choice Awards, Cox was joined by panelists Zuri Hall, Zanna Roberts Rassi and Loni Love to discuss the fashion moments on the red carpet. This was Cox’s third year covering the event — she debuted on the show in 2021 and returned the following year.
The People’s Choice Awards, which solicit votes from fans and the general public, originated in 1975. The 49th annual ceremony takes place on Feb. 18 at the Barker Hangar in Los Angeles. Hosted by “Barbie” star Simu Liu, the award show’s categories span multiple pop culture mediums including music, television, film and sports.
