The Retaility — the lifestyle site launched in June 2021 by Los Angeles-based journalist Lindzi Scharf — teamed with Gwyneth Paltrow’s Good.clean.goop in celebration of motherhood.
“The fact that [Goop] wanted to support the type of storytelling that we’re doing at The Retaility means the world,” Scharf told guests at the brunch, held alfresco on Thursday at the home of Deepika Chopra (the “Optimism Doctor” who recently partnered with Saks, as reported by WWD). “The art of long-form features is a dying art form, and it’s an art form I very much believe in. And I can tell you, based on looking at data, there’s an audience for it.”
The Retaility offers in-depth storytelling, with a look inside the homes and minds of California-based creatives and entrepreneurs. Many of those at the event have participated in an upcoming “In Conversation” series on the site, including Chopra, Rumer Willis, comedian Esther Povitsky, screenwriter-producer Kay Cannon, actor Constance Zimmer and TV personality and dancer Amanda Kloots.
The day also brought out actor Abigail Spencer, who provided the floral tablescape by her company County Line Florals, actor and writer Breeda Wool, author Eve Rodsky, makeup artist Rachel Goodwin, producer Hilary Shor, actor-singer Lindsay Price, Cleobella designer Angela O’Brien, Kate Gordon (cofounder of design site The Happy Place) and Kelly McKee Zajfen (cofounder of Alliance of Moms, a membership program of the Alliance for Children’s Rights).
Guests enjoyed a menu of Acme smoked salmon, granola, Caesar salads and pastries, before taking home a gift bag of products by Good.clean.goop — Paltrow’s mass market beauty and wellness brand.
