Lucy Freyer went back 22 years for WWD Honors on Tuesday night, opting for a vintage Roberto Cavalli dress from 2004. As it turns out, she’s not the only one with a soft spot for the Italian designer’s early-2000s creations.
“This is 2004 Cavalli. I love a vintage moment, especially a vintage Cavalli,” the “Adults” actress told WWD at Cipriani South Street in New York.
The spaghetti-strap dress featured a plunging V-neckline and a fitted silhouette that opened into an asymmetrical, draped skirt. Swirling green paisley-likefloral motifs decorated the beige-gold fabric, with patches of rusty orange and deeper green throughout. The skirt featured a mix of pleated and flowing panels, with an uneven hem that fell below just below the knee.

Freyer kept her accessories simple, pairing the vintage dress with strappy black sandals. She styled her blonde hair in loose, center-parted waves.
Cavalli’s early-2000s designs have been getting quite a bit of attention lately. Just last week, Katy Perry pulled a look from the designer’s spring 2004 collection for “CMA Presents I Will Always Love You: A Celebration of Dolly Parton” in Nashville. Her animal-print dress featured warm shades of orange, brown and beige, along with a bustier bra and a flowing skirt.
Earlier this month, La La Anthony took a similar trip into the Cavalli archives, wearing a floral and animal-print outfit with collectible boots from the designer’s spring 2002 collection for an appearance on “Today With Jenna & Sheinelle.”
