Mackage will introduce a collaboration with artist Matthew Langille, launching Thursday. Together they have created a children’s collection that combines playful artistry and functional fashion.

Langille has previously lent his artistry to Kith, Lacoste, Swatch and Bloomingdale’s. For Mackage, his sketches will appear on the classic children’s puffer coats, hoodies and hats. Mackage has been making childrenswear since 2012.

“Working with Mackage was a true pleasure, and I forged some lasting friendships with the team along the way. I’m incredibly excited for this collection,” said Langille.

His work draws inspiration from cartoons and pop culture that’s evident in the whimsical aesthetics woven throughout each piece in the collection. Puffer coats and hoodies are adorned with a collage of clouds, stars, rainbows and Mackage’s iconic logo. The hats feature Langille’s interpretation of the Mackage “M” embroidered on the front.

“The idea was to create a pattern and pull assets from the pattern that would work embroidered to provide hits on other pieces in the capsule. I see embroidery as a nice way to add a touch to a garment that isn’t overwhelming visually, but more thoughtful,” said Langille. “Embroidery has always allowed me to still make garments that have my whimsy and fun, but while also maintaining a classic look. Your clothing doesn’t have to scream whimsy and fun to be whimsical and fun. A touch of embroidery goes a long way in adding intelligent and thoughtful touches to collections,” he said.

Tanya Golesic, chief executive officer of Mackage, said, “We wanted to create something that not only captures the essence of childhood wonder but also ensures children are protected from the elements.”

The Mackage x Matthew Langille collection will be available for the fall season only at select stores and online at mackage.com starting Oct. 26. As an exclusive bonus, customers who make a purchase from the collection at one of the select stores will receive stickers featuring Langille’s illustrations from this collaboration.

Prices range from $110 to $590 for the collection, which includes accessories, ready-to-wear and outerwear. Sizes range from 2-14 and all styles are unisex.

In the past, Mackage has partnered with artists such as Curtis Cassell and Andre Saraivasi.
