Ever since her noteworthy turn in the 2013 Martin Scorsese-helmed “The Wolf of Wall Street,” which firmly established her presence on the Hollywood map, Margot Robbie has earned critical acclaim through her nuanced performances in a wide range of blockbuster projects, including “Bombshell” and “Babylon.” Fresh off her record-breaking hit film “Barbie,” under Greta Gerwig’s direction, the star has been busy. When she isn’t on set, she’s likely to be spotted with her tattoo gun, giving permanent ink to her loved ones.
While Robbie has four tattoos herself, she has honed in the art of tattooing other people over the years. (As of 2017, her tattoo count impressively stood at nearly 100 pieces of ink, one of which was her own.) However, she has since confessed that she’s ready to “hang up her tattoo gun” following one big mishap.
“One of my good friends was getting married in Australia and has the hens – the bachelorette, you would say – the night before. Of course, there’s a lot of drinking, and then we’re like, ‘Oh, we’ll get matching tattoos!’ ’cause that’s a great idea. And I was tattooing my friend on her back. Another friend had drawn it in pen. And then I tattooed it, and then when I showed her afterwards, she was like, ‘Oh. I didn’t know that’s what I was getting,'” she said in an appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.” “The next day at the wedding, when she walked down the aisle, as one of the maids of honor, in a backless dress, and this, like, red, raw, scabbing tattoo. And her mom was filthy with me. She was, like, rassed at me at the wedding. She was so angry, and I thought, ‘I really shouldn’t do this anymore.'”
As for her own designs, Robbie has four tiny tattoos, one of which she gave herself, while another was drawn on her by the actor and model Cara Delevingne. Ahead, check out all four tattoos that Robbie has gotten over the years and their significance to the actor.
