Mariah Carey landed in Milan on Sunday in one of her go-to shoe silhouettes: knee-high boots. The singer arrived at the airport ahead of the Milano-Cortina Winter Olympics opening ceremony, where she is slated to perform, pairing the silhouette with an all-black travel look.
The black leather knee-high boots featured a straight shaft that hit just below the knee and a clean, smooth vamp. The toe narrowed into a softly pointed, almond shape, while the heel took a squared block form that appeared to be 3-4 inches tall. A slim inner side zipper and a narrow top band at the lower end of the shaft finished the silhouette.
The singer, who was just honored as the MusiCares Person of the Year, kept the rest of the outfit in the same monochrome palette: a black rib-knit minidress with a zip-front neckline over sheer black tights, layered under a full-length black coat. Oversized square sunglasses, a slim diamond necklace and stacked rings completed the look.

Her airport boots also extend what’s been a concentrated run of knee-high silhouettes in recent months. In Aspen at the end of December, she wore deep brown suede mid-calf boots with knit joggers, plus multiple Gucci styles, including the GG-canvas Bombshell stiletto boot from the brand’s spring 2026 collection and tall black leather boots. Earlier in the month, she wore metallic gold Giuseppe Zanotti Hattie knee-high boots for her “Christmastime in Las Vegas” residency, which she has also worn at past performances.
The Milan arrival marks Carey’s first appearance connected to the 2026 Milano-Cortina Games since organizers confirmed she would perform at the opening ceremony on Friday. The event will open the Winter Olympics across multiple locations in Northern Italy and is set to include a tribute to Giorgio Armani alongside additional international and Italian guests.
