Men’s Wearhouse is doing its part to help the country’s servicemen and women.

In honor of Veterans Day, the retailer is donating $6.5 million to organizations that support those who have served their country.

Men’s Wearhouse began its support of veterans in 2015 when it partnered with Kenneth Cole Productions and launched Awearness Kenneth Cole where each brand donated a portion of sales to veterans’ charities.

This year, Men’s Wearhouse introduced a “Threads of Valor” campaign where customers at all stores were invited to make a $1, $3 or $5 contribution at checkout. The effort raised $5.5 million from 1.3 million donors and Men’s Wearhouse added $1 million on top of that.

The money will be donated to four organizations: Hire Heroes USA, K9s for Warriors, Fisher House Foundation, and Semper Fi & America’s Fund.

“Men’s Wearhouse is committed to uplifting our veterans and giving them the support they deserve,” said John Tighe, president of Tailored Brands, parent of Men’s Wearhouse. “Our customers have come to know and value our passion for serving those who have served, and this impact simply would not be possible without their generous contributions.”

On top of the donation, Men’s Wearhouse is also partnering with Hire Heroes USA, a nonprofit organization that empowers U.S. military members, veterans and their spouses to succeed in the civilian workforce, as the first sponsor of the Junior Enlisted Program. Since January, the organization has helped 3,682 junior enlisted clients and led to 2,000 hires.

Fisher House Foundation said it will use the funds donated by Men’s Wearhouse to build multiple new homes across the country, and Semper Fi & America’s Fund will sponsor caregiver retreats and regular programming to critically wounded, ill and injured service members, veterans, and military families. K9s for Warriors, the nation’s largest provider of trained service dogs for veterans, will use the funds to rescue, train and pair up to 60 dogs to veterans.

The “Threads of Valor” campaign will continue through the end of the year.
