Last year, Miami boutique SoleFly used its Air Jordan 3 collaboration to celebrate the local college football powerhouse and even tapped a few all-time greats from the university to unveil the sneaker. The city will once again inform its next collaboration, but in more subtle fashion.

The SoleFly x Air Jordan 5 brings a bit of South Beach Miami flavor while utilizing one half of the teal and pink combo associated with the Miami neighborhood. Small doses of teal are used for the branding, which includes SoleFly’s logo on the lateral heel, as well as the lace toggle and shark teeth motif on the midsole.

These pops of color standout against a drab platform, as a grey suede upper bears the appearance of wear. A monochrome color scheme is used throughout the rest of the sneaker, save for a pre-yellowed midsole that fades to grey at the toe. Another flourish comes through laces wrapping around the heel from the top set of eyelets.

Last year’s Air Jordan 3 is considered one of SoleFly’s very best, and it was first shown to the world at the Miami Hurricanes’ season-opening win against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on the feet of Ed Reed, Andre Johnson and Edgerrin James.

Many sneakers have taken on the “South Beach” teal and pink theme over the years, but none more famous than the LeBron 8 from LeBron James’ first season with the Miami Heat.

The SoleFly x Air Jordan 5 is expected to release in October, but pricing and any other information has yet to be confirmed. Footwear News will keep you abreast of any updates.
