Michelle Pfeiffer went the suited styling route in her Saint Laurent look at the “Oh. What. Fun.” premiere in New York City on Tuesday night.

For the festive, holiday-centric occasion, Pfeiffer turned to stylist Samantha McMillen for guidance on her attire. Flaunting her aesthetic business-savvy acumen, Pfeiffer wore a pair of high-waisted charcoal gray trousers with defined pleats near the waistline and a slim black belt with a gold buckle detailing.

Pfeiffer’s look evokes the rise in women’s tailoring, which has been charted over the course of the last year. Between political figures like former U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris, to royals like Kate Middleton and even red carpet looks by Ciara, tailored attire has hit the zeitgeist of women’s fashion.

It’s a cultural movement that’s even been felt across the pond. “This renewed focus on women’s tailoring aligns with broader cultural shifts toward sustainability, individuality and the rejection of fast fashion. As more women ascend to leadership roles and seek professional attire that embodies confidence and style, the demand for high-quality, tailor-made clothing has grown,” Hannah Bond, the womenswear representative for 204-year-old bespoke London-based tailor Norton & Sons, told WWD in August 2024.
