You know that point when you’re packing for a trip where it looks like a tornado tore through your closet and left debris all over your room? That was the status of Mikaela Shiffrin‘s surroundings when we hopped on a video call in mid-September to chat about her partnership with Barilla. (Professional athletes, they’re just like us!) Only she wasn’t packing for a long weekend or breezy vaca. Shiffrin was packing for more or less six months in Europe for the 2023-2024 World Cup alpine skiing season, which is now underway.

“I’m mostly just excited to get over to Europe, get on snow, and just kind of get into a routine. Because right now, this period is just a lot of packing. It’s a lot of last-minute scattered things. Once we get there, I’m actually going to be able to take a breath for the first time in several weeks,” she tells POPSUGAR.

Shiffrin was officially named the “greatest skier of all time” in March after winning her 87th World Cup victory, making her the current all-time record holder for most World Cup wins. She’s headed into this season fearlessly targeting her sixth overall title. The first event is coming up hot: Shiffrin will race on Oct. 28 in the Alpine Ski Championship Season Opener in Sölden, Austria.

What’s in her travel bags? Read on to hear more about Shiffrin’s must-have products, including the sneakers she’s been wearing for years, her go-to green powder, and a skin-care staple that’s almost too fittingly named “Queen of the Winter.”
