Multimedia Plus (MMP), the retail and hospitality training and communications technology company, just released the results of an executive survey revealing priorities and several “pressing concerns” facing businesses heading into the summer season.

David Harouche, chief executive officer and chief technology officer of MMP, said this summer, “The retail and hospitality industries face unique challenges and opportunities. Our survey highlights the crucial role of employee training and technology in crafting memorable customer experiences.

The survey revealed that 40.48 percent of those polled said they are “enhancing training with interactive, mobile learning platforms,” while 28.57 percent “integrate mobile payment options for speedier checkouts.” Authors of the survey report said these initiatives “reflect a keen investment in technology to enrich the shopping experience and operational efficiency.”

The survey also showed a sharper focus on stepping up employee and front-line worker training and staffing to win the summer season. The poll found that 30.23 percent of respondents cited employee training as a top priority along with increasing staff (27.91 percent) and seasonal marketing and sales promotions (at 23.26 percent). “These priorities underscore the industry’s focus on enhancing workforce capabilities and customer engagement to navigate the competitive summer period effectively,” the report’s authors said.

The survey showed that despite economic headwinds, 54.55 percent of those polled said their technology spending remains unchanged, “highlighting a strategic commitment to innovation amid budgetary constraints,” MMP said, adding that 18.18 percent of respondents “are even increasing their tech budgets, aiming to harness technological advancements for competitive advantage.”

Other findings include a priority for operations training (23.81 percent of those polled), product knowledge (23.81 percent), and leadership development (11.9 percent). The report’s authors said an emphasis on operational excellence and knowledgeable leadership “is key to driving sales and enhancing customer satisfaction.”

The survey revealed that 26.83 percent of those polled said they plan to deploy mobile learning platforms, while 14.63 percent said they “are considering a customer experience app, showcasing a forward-thinking approach to empowering associates and streamlining operations.”
