Moda Operandi will launch an exclusive trunk show Thursday featuring a curated selection of the fall 2024 collections from five of the semifinalists for the LVMH Prize for Young Fashion Designers: Agbobly, Elena Velez, Marie Adam-Leenaerdt, Niccolo Pasqualetti and Vautrait.
LVMH launched the LVMH Prize for Young Fashion Designers in 2013, and each year it awards young fashion designers for their talent and creativity. Last month, the LVMH Prize for Young Designers revealed the 20 semifinalists of its 11th edition, which saw more than 2,500 applicants — a record number of entries — vying for 800,000 euros in prize money.
“We are thrilled to launch a digital trunk show showcasing five of the semifinalists for the LVMH Prize for Young Fashion Designers, said April Hennig, chief merchant of Moda Operandi. “Since our founding in 2011, Moda Operandi has proudly supported emerging talent through our trunk show model and with thoughtful editorial content that brings young designers’ stories directly to a customer base that is eager to be the first to shop what’s new and what’s next.”
“This year’s class of semifinalists is full of up-and-coming designers who express a strong sense of ingenuity and inventiveness. It’s exciting to see such creativity while there is so much going on in the world, giving us hope for fashion’s future. Each designer included in our curation has a unique, individual voice that sets their aesthetic apart,” Hennig added.
Looks range from Agbobly’s unisex styles focused on handcrafted luxury and Velez’s nontraditional combination of metalwork and high fashion to Pasqualetti’s androgynous styles reinterpreted from the sartorial codes of Italian heritage.
Asked how she decided on this specific group, Hennig told WWD, “We selected womenswear brands for the trunk show that had unique points of view, with product that is differentiated enough from, yet complements our existing designer portfolio, and also took into account the quality level and ability to ship pieces within a standard fall-winter delivery period.”
The trunk show launches for preorder on modaoperandi.com and runs through March 29, with products shipping for fall delivery. Prices across the collection range from $500 to $5,500.
