New Balance utilizes May to highlight its signature greyscale color scheme through a yearly series of “Grey Days” sneaker releases. But with June bringing summernear, the Boston-based brand is taking quite the opposite approach with one of its flagship models.
The New Balance 990v6 “Community Red” is drawing rave reviews and comparisons to a collaboration for its bold look. Starting with a grey mesh base, its overlays and sole unit feature a vivid mix of red, pinks, and purple. The sneaker is actually part of a new “Community Pack” featuring three other colorways, but its the red edition that’s garnered the most attention.
“Community Blue” and “Community Green” editions start with the same grey base and employ a mix of their namesake colors, but the effect isn’t quite as bold as that found on “Community Red.”
