The debut release of a once-obscure Air Jordan 6 colorway will be one of the big-ticket items during NBA All-Star Weekend, and more plans centered upon the sneaker are surfacing as the occasion draws nearer.
The Air Jordan 40 “Infrared” will release in February as another nod to Michael Jordan’s first championship sneaker. Reappropriating the Air Jordan 6 colorway, the latest Air Jordan model gets a predominantly black look with pops of its namesake shade of red. Black suede dresses the upper, with red used for the tongue’s Jumpman logo and medial window. Heel branding is rendered in tonal black, while the sole unit is split with black and red.
Originally released in 1991, the Air Jordan 6 “Black Infrared” holds a special place among collectors because it was worn by Jordan while he secured the first of his six NBA titles. It was last released in 2019, and a slight twist on it, dubbed “Salesman,” will drop next month as the first release for a sample that was shown to retailers in the ’90s.
