Nicky Hilton Rothschild opted to style one of 2024’s hottest hues at the Lexus Melbourne Cup alongside Australian designer Rebecca Vallance. The two attended the high-profile horse race event to promote their collaborative design efforts, which include holiday party dresses.
Embracing the method dressing approach, Hilton Rothschild wore a bespoke skirt suit by Rebecca Vallance in trending butter yellow to the horse racing event. Her strapless top wrapped around the bodice and over the shoulder, featuring four large buttons and a belted waist that created a subtle peplum effect.
She paired it with a pleated midi skirt in the same hue. To complete her look, Hilton Rothschild accessorized with a matching pillbox hat, dainty earrings and a diamond necklace, along with a shimmering silver handbag and pumps with crystal details.

Vallance chose a pink derby look. The Australian designer wore a custom sleeveless dress with a wrapped bodice and short sleeves for added volume, tying at the front. The dress’ skirt was smooth and floor-length. Like Hilton Rothschild, Vallance wore a matching hat, hers wide-brimmed and tilted to the side, completing her look with gold hoop statement earrings.
“From the initial mood boards and ideas to the final execution of the pieces, Rebecca and I have worked together to create a beautiful collection — one we are both so very proud of and that perfectly captures a quintessential holiday spirit. We can’t wait for you to see it,” Hilton previously told WWD of the 31-piece collection, which features shimmering minidresses with playful accents like bow details.
The Lexus Melbourne Cup, held annually in November at Melbourne’s Flemington Racecourse, is a prestigious Group 1 horse race with a 3,200-meter track and an $8.56 million prize pool, surpassing the Kentucky Derby’s $3 million.
