Nearly a year after announcing their partnership, Nike and Lego are dispensing with the details on what their collaboration will look like.

Sneakers decorated with Lego’s studs and a block set to build one of Nike‘s most famous models will release in stages across the summer. A 1,180-piece Lego Nike Dunk High set will kick things off with a July 1 launch and preorders are open on Lego’s website. Wearable product will follow Aug. 1 with the release of an Air Max Dn along with apparel and accessories and a Dunk Low collection coming Sept. 1. Additional Nike x Lego sets will also arrive in September.

“At Nike, we are dedicated to fueling the potential of kids through play,” Cal Dowers, Nike vice president, Global Kids, said in a press release. “Activating the full power of Nike — from athletes to our communities — helps us engage and inspire kids to experience the enjoyment of sport as a lifelong pursuit. Our partnership with the Lego Group reinforces our commitment to inviting all kids to play.”

A London activation with summer soccer tournaments as a backdrop will run from July 19 through 29, and Nike and Lego will host events throughout China during the summer before opening a playground made of recycled shoes in the fall at the Shanghai House of Innovation.

A’ja Wilson, whose signature Nike sneaker just debuted in May, will play a role in the partnership with more details to be announced in the coming weeks.

“I have loved playing with Lego bricks since I was a kid and know that my creativity and play helped me not only in sports but also at school and in life,” Wilson said in a press release. “I’m thrilled to be part of this partnership with Nike and the Lego Group and know we can help to make a positive impact with kids and adults alike.”

The Lego x Nike Air Max Dn comes dressed almost entirely in the same shade of yellow as the former company’s Minifigure and is adorned with studs throughout its upper. Two of the visible Air tubes on the heel host Lego branding, including a Minifigure head at the rear, and iridescent detailing is used for the midfoot shank and mustache.

For the Dunk Low coming later, Nike and Lego have dressed the sneaker in a cartoonish look in white patent with black outlines.

Both the sneakers and apparel have only been confirmed in children’s sizing and will release through Nike’s website and select global stores.

Intended for ages 10 and up, the Dunk High Lego set includes hidden compartments, as well as a basketball mini figure and B’Ball head.

Basketball will also be the focus of the Nike and Lego Play Arena at Legoland California, as stations include three-point shooting and the opportunity to design Minifigure trading cards and mini basketball jerseys. General entry passes to Legoland will include entry to the limited-time space.

On June 11, the International Day of Play, Nike will also host an event at its Beaverton, Oregon headquarters in which employees who have learned to become youth sport coaches will lead children through a day of sport in partnership with a local nonprofit.

“Play has the incredible ability to inspire and spark creativity in every child, and at the Lego Group, we truly believe in that power,” said Federico Begher, senior vice president of product group and new businesses for Lego. “We’re excited to kick off the first chapter of our partnership with Nike, blending the joy of basketball with the magic of imagination.”
