Nike will soon reach double digits for the Metcon, the cross-training sneaker franchise ubiquitous among gym-goers.

The Nike Metcon 10 comes in a decade into the series’ existence as the brand’s most stable and durable sneaker yet. ReactX cushioning, employed in some of Nike’s top running shoes, makes its entry into the Metcon universe in a bid for comfort and explosiveness and is paired with a lighter, reengineered Hyperlift plate at the heel for stability. Durability, grip and further stability are provided through a haptic print topcoat for high-wear zones on the upper, as well as a midfoot band and TPU heel clip.

“The ReactX foam makes the Metcon 10 feel more responsive than before, and the updated Hyperlift plate helps the shoe feel more stable without compromising its flexibility,” Nike trainer Rad Lopez said in a press release. “Whether I’m strength training or doing HIIT — or both — I believe the Metcon 10 is made to perform.”

The newest Metcon’s outsole offers sticky rubber targeted at the forefoot and an abrasion-resistant claiming not only the remaining territory, but extending to cover the midsole. Flex grooves also extend into the midsole for flexibility, while strategic cutouts in the outsole facilitate heel-to-toe transitions.

All together, the Metcon 10’s tech is designed to handle short sprints, box jumps, high-mobility movements, heavy lifting, rope climbing and more, as well as surfaces as disparate as asphalt and turf.

“A decade in, we revisited the DNA of what makes Metcon the global standard in training footwear and obsessed the balanced system of strength that Metcon stands for: stability, grip, lockdown and mobility,” said Erin Gleason, Nike Training product line manager. “In designing the Metcon 10, we really streamlined the build and focused on going back to the foundation of what makes Metcon great, listening to the voices of athletes across all disciplines and intensities to create a shoe that reflects the way they train today.”

During Nike’s final earnings call for fiscal 2025, chief executive officer Elliott Hill highlighted training as the performance category with the next-best momentum after running and specifically called out sell-through on the Metcon franchise.

The Nike Metcon 10 will release Aug. 4 through Nike’s website and select third-party retailers. Pricing is set at $155.
