Rickie De Sole, vice president, fashion director at Nordstrom, has been named to the board of directors of Vestiaire Collective, the global platform for pre-owned, curated fashion. This brings the number of board members to eight.
The company is focused on strengthening its presence within the U.S., which now represents 20 percent of the total business. The U.S. is now the fastest-growing region, influencing the company’s decision to add a U.S.-based board member with deep industry knowledge.
De Sole joined Nordstrom in January 2022 as the women’s fashion and editorial director and was promoted to vice president, fashion director of Nordstrom earlier this year. Previously, she was executive fashion director at vogue.com, and has worked as fashion director at W Magazine and accessories director of Vogue. She also worked in-house for Prada in public relations. She has previously served as a board member at Rent the Runway and Thom Browne.
“Rickie brings years of experience working at some of the most recognizable names in fashion. With her deep industry insights, Rickie will play an integral role on the board of Vestiaire Collective during a pivotal point in the company’s growth and will help accelerate our business not only in North America, but also globally. I am thrilled to have her join our board and our mission to reshape the fashion industry for a more sustainable future,” ssid Fanny Moizant, cofounder and president of Vestiaire Collective.
De Sole said, “I am pleased to join the Vestiaire Collective board at a time when they are gaining strong momentum in the U.S. Vestiaire Collection has had resounding success in Europe and Asia with its curated offerings from around the world, trustworthy authentication service and commitment to sustainability. I see tremendous opportunity for me to support Vestaire Collective’s leadership team in driving brand awareness and accelerating its growth in the U.S.”
Among the initiatives to increase its U.S. business, Vestiaire’s global chief executive officer Maximilian Bittner relocated to New York from Paris, forming a new U.S.-based team including North America CEO Samina Virk. The company implemented a zero percent commission structure for U.S. sellers on the platform, launched a VIP Consignment Program in New York and hosted an exclusive celebrity closet with Academy Award winner and producer Jessica Chastain.
