Eyes were on the fashion industry on Wednesday evening, with Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni attending the Camera della Moda gala dinner during Milan Fashion Week – the first prime minister to take part in such an event in 10 years, after Matteo Renzi.
Wearing a dark Ermanno Scervino pantsuit over a white blouse embellished with lace, Meloni said she believed “it is especially fitting to be physically present here in a moment that is not very easy for a segment that, however, continues to show great results,” underscoring investments of 100 million euros in the industry.
She was flanked by the mayor of Milan Giuseppe Sala and Carlo Capasa, chairman of the fashion body, and the gala attracted all the major representatives of the industry, from Frédéric Arnault, Francesca Bellettini, Marco Bizzarri and Brunello Cucinelli to Diego Della Valle, Andrea Guerra, Giuseppe Marsocci, Luca de Meo, Remo Ruffini, Renzo Rosso, Tony Belloni and Gildo Zegna to name a few.

Seated in a courtyard of Milan’s Royal Palace, near the Duomo cathedral, guests were served Da Vittorio’s signature paccheri pasta — a dinner that surprisingly started promptly given security — and the event coincided with the unveiling of the “Dalì e la Moda” exhibition in the storied building, now a cultural center.
