Princess Charlene of Monaco chose a clean palette on Friday for her appearance at the Paris Olympics 2024 opening ceremony.
The royal coordinated with her husband, Prince Albert II, in colors of Monaco’s flag — the prince embracing a vibrant red blazer with a white shirt and matching trousers while Charlene looked to Louis Vuitton for a custom white jumpsuit. For a sparkling finish, the princess accessorized with metallic silver pumps and Vuitton’s Mini Capucines handbag.
They were joined by their children, twins Princess Gabriella, Countess of Carlades, and Jacques, Hereditary Prince of Monaco.
Earlier, the couple attended a pre-Olympics reception for heads of state at the Elysee presidential palace, where they were welcomed by French president Emmanuel Macron and first lady Brigitte Macron. There are five Monégasque athletes participating in the 2024 Olympics. Swimmers Théo Druenne and Lisa Pou were Monaco’s flagbearers at the opening ceremony.

Both Princess Charlene and Prince Albert II have significant ties to the Olympics. Princess Charlene is a former competitive swimmer, who represented South Africa during the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Prince Albert II competed on Monaco’s bobsleigh team during five consecutive winter Olympics. Since 1985, Albert has been a member of the International Olympic Committee.
The opening ceremony took place along the river Seine with a live performance by Lady Gaga, Aya Nakamura, Celine Dion and more. Guests included Serena Williams, U.S. First Lady Jill Biden, Chrissy Teigen, Nina Dobrev and Ariana Grande. The ceremony will feature the traditional parade of athletes from 206 national Olympic committees traveling on nearly 100 boats. The parade will pass by famous Parisian landmarks such as Notre Dame, the Louvre and the Eiffel Tower.
The 2024 Paris Olympics, officially known as the Games of the XXXIII Olympiad, will take place through Aug. 11. This edition marks the centenary of the last time Paris hosted the Games in 1924.
