PARIS Printemps Group is bolstering its leadership ranks as it aims to transform the French retailer into a global department store and lifestyle brand.

The group has tapped Le Bon Marché executive Maud Barrionuevo as general manager, while Jean Gasnier moves from the group’s Citadium brand to the role of general manager of marketing, communication and new business.

“After an intense transformation plan, we want to strengthen the customer focus and omnichannel evolution of the Printemps group,” said Printemps Group chief executive officer Jean-Marc Bellaiche.

“The appointments of Maud Barrionuevo and Jean Gasnier perfectly illustrate this desire to create an ecosystem serving a unique and seamless phygital customer experience. The quality and specificity of their respective profiles complete the wealth of our management committee,” he added.

Before joining Printemps, Barrionuevo spent 15 years at Le Bon Marché with roles in the buying department, including luxury, designer and contemporary fashion, most recently as general manager of purchasing and marketplace. She played a key role in launching LVMH-owned e-tailer 24S in 2015.

Gasnier is moving within the group, from its youth- and sports-oriented Citadium brand, where he has served in a variety of positions since 2018, most recently as general manager of new business. Prior to Citadium, he spent his career in development on the digital side, including positions at La Perla, Burberry and now-defunct social marketplace Shopcade.

In addition to the executive appointments, the group has elevated current director of commercial and partnerships Emmanuel Suissa to a position on the management committee.

These strategic appointments come as Printemps accelerates its efforts to refine its omnichannel offerings and bolster its position in the evolving retail landscape.

Bellaiche took over as CEO of Printemps in 2020, with the ambition to expand the group’s international footprint and grow omnichannel services. The department store has since opened a location in Doha, in 2022, and is set to arrive in New York City. That project was first targeted for spring 2024 but is now expected for the second quarter of 2025 at the landmark 1 Wall Street building.

The store has also started to expand its brand with a podcast and in-house “content creation” studio inside its Paris flagship, offering livestream shopping, among other programming.

Printemps also became the first department store to start accepting cryptocurrencies through Binance Pay and payment platform Lyzi, which launched last November.
