After a decades-long hiatus, Queen Latifah is finally taking back the reins as host of the 2026 American Music Awards.
To honor the momentous occasion, the 57-year-old actress wore a regal overcoat by Christian Siriano outside the MGM Grand Garden Arena on Monday night before the ceremony.
Plucked straight from Siriano’s fall 2026 runway, the statement-making layer featured textured faux fur, wide lapels and a thick white waist belt that cinched the coat at the middle. Under the garment was an off-white chiffon slip that peeked through the middle. The dress and coat pooled at Queen Latifah’s feet on the navy blue carpet, shielding her shoes.

Clad in the eye-catching fur, the artist, born Dana Elaine Owens, toned down her hair, opting for a class slick-back with a ponytail extension. The long ends swayed across her back as she moved from one end of the carpet to the other. Most likely crafted by her longtime hairstylist, Iasia Merriweather, the updo accentuated her magenta lip, smoky eyes and full lashes. WWD has reached out to makeup artist Frank Guyton, with whom Queen Latifah recently collaborated, to confirm they were behind her Monday night glam.
Merriweather took to her Instagram before the show to share a throwback photo of the “Last Holiday” lead attending the 2008 AMAs. Here, she slicked the sides of her head back and left the top full (think “faux-hawk” but with straight, shoulder-length ends). Apart from a naked lip and blond brows, Queen Latifah’s makeup wasn’t all that different. Her fashion, on the other hand, was a quintessential Y2K red carpet choice — a one-shoulder metallic bodycon gown and matching gladiator heels.
