Queen Maxima of the Netherlands opted for one of her go-to designers for her latest royal engagement on Thursday. The royal attended the opening of the social cultural center De Basis wearing a dress evocative of the summer season and Queen Maxima’s signature sartorial whimsy.

For the royal engagement, Queen Maxima opted for the “Josie” sleeveless piqué cotton and stencil pattern dress in a shade of royal blue. The midi dress featured a hemline below the knee and included a defined waist.

Over the royal blue base color of the frock, Queen Maxima’s dress featured intricately designed flourishes of pattern in white. The look was wholly consistent with Queen Maxima’s appreciation for delicate feminine silhouettes and playful patterns.

Along with the dress, Queen Maxima wore a pair of navy leather pumps courtesy of Gianvito Rossi. While outside of the social cultural center, Queen Maxima accessorized with an ornate fascinator in a neutral tone. She also wore jewelry that featured blue tones to coordinate with her sartorial statement.

Queen Maxima is a longtime admirer of Natan’s designs. The Belgian house, founded in 1983 by Édouard Vermeulen, celebrated its 40th anniversary in November. The milestone occasion was commemorated with an exhibition organized at Espace Vanderborght in partnership with the Fashion Museum of the City of Brussels.

Among the facets of the wide-ranging exhibition was a section that included dresses worn by European royal women, including Queen Mathilde of Belgium, her eldest daughter and heir apparent Princess Elisabeth, as well as Queen Maxima.

The royal wore another look by Natan during a visit to the beach of Domburg and historical center of Veere on Tuesday. Queen Maxima’s dress also featured a shade of blue and included sheer elements and delicate embroidery. When it comes to her whimsical style, Queen Maxima continues to favor Natan as the designer who seamlessly marries feminine silhouettes with sartorial eccentricities.
