Re/Done, known for its sustainable and upcycled clothing, tapped celebrity Pamela Anderson for a 25-piece capsule collection after the Los Angeles brand received a call out of the blue.

On the phone was Brandon Lee, Anderson’s 27-year-old son, who phoned one of Re/Done’s cofounders, Sean Barron, to tell him a T-shirt that Re/Done was making with the word “Girl” on the front was just like one his mother had.

Soon everyone was reconnecting from their days of living in Malibu, and the conversation turned to Anderson partnering with the label for a collection filled with eco-conscious denim and everything sustainable.

“We realized we are totally aligned with what we think is important. Fashion and sustainability,” Barron said.

The first thing Barron did was ask to see the former “Baywatch” star’s favorite jeans. She sent him some old Levi’s from the 1990s, and they built a prototype and a mood board from it. “We put a picture of her on the mood board from every decade,” Barron said. “But we didn’t want this to be a costume of the ‘90s. We wanted to be inspired by that, but we wanted it to feel like her today.”

Anderson said she drew her design inspiration from her wardrobe of baby Ts, bodysuits, miniskirts and denim, many of which are still in her closet. “These are new and improved sustainable tops and bottoms,” Anderson shared. “There are repurposed Levi’s, and they [Re/Done] let me loose with the bedazzler on cutoff shorts and wrap skirts.”

The result is the Re/Done & Pam collection with a focus on denim and T-shirts, selling for $175 to $595. It is made of recycled fabrics and upcycled clothing designed using green practices. California-grown regenerative cotton, apple-skin leather for patches and untreated organic cotton were also employed.

To kick off the collection’s launch, Re/Done on Monday held a debut party at its flagship on Melrose Avenue in West Hollywood. Anderson was wearing a pair of the collection’s jeans — a straight leg, mid-rise silhouette that was slightly faded — with a faded denim shirt. “I love the jean-on-jean look,” Anderson said as the buzz of conversation filled the air. “It reminds me of Jane Birkin and Serge Gainsbourg. That is how I am romanticizing it — with a panier, walking through the south of France, or in Malibu, or even at home [on Vancouver Island] with the rain forest on the beach.”

The collection relied on natural tones, which was underscored by Anderson modeling the designs with no makeup and continuing that look at the debut party attended by friends of the brand, including Ellen von Unwerth, a former model turned photographer, and Anderson’s sons, Brandon and Dylan.

Also on hand was Jamie Mazur, the other cofounder of Re/Done, established in 2014 with the idea of making blue jeans and other clothing new again. To date, the venture has upcycled nearly 200,000 pairs of Levi’s jeans.

The company’s ethos of recycled goods saving the environment ties in well with Anderson’s latest venture as the cofounder of the skin care brand Sonsie, announced early this year. It is a vegan and cruelty-free brand created by German-born model and content creator Marie von Behrens-Felipe with husband Roberto A. Felipe.

A beauty icon since the ‘90s, known for an ultra-glam look during her “Baywatch” TV days, the actress showed a different side of herself in the 2023 Netflix documentary “Pamela, a Love Story,” with son Brandon among the producers. Sharing her life story, Anderson was barefaced in front of the camera for the first time.

She repeated that natural look at the Vanity Fair party after Sunday’s Oscars. It is a look she is flaunting more often, whether it is in Hollywood or Vancouver Island, where she moved five years ago to a six-acre farm belonging to her grandmother in British Columbia, Canada.
