Regina King hit the red carpet in New York City for the SAG-AFTRA conversation on her film “Shirley,” alongside writer Salamishah Tillet on Friday. The Oscar-winning actress stars in this historical drama about Shirley Chisholm, the first Black woman elected to the U.S. Congress, who ran for president in 1972.
For the intimate conversation, King opted for a look that played with shape and buckle accessories. The “If Beale Street Could Talk” actress wore a Nanushka maxidress with a thigh-high slit and buckle detail on the bodice.
King’s dress was a light gray with stud detailing on the bottom hem and two buckles on the top left side. She paired the sleeveless dress with sheer black tights and black lace-up combat boots to complete the look.

Although her film debuted on Netflix in March, King has spent the last several months discussing “Shirley.” While promoting the film in March 2024, King joined Jimmy Kimmel for the eponymous talk show host’s late-night show.
For her appearance, King chose an ivory sleeveless minidress from Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini. The dress featured stretched draping and ruched detailing throughout. She completed the look with delicate jewelry and pointed-toe statement heels.
“Shirley” follows trailblazing politician Shirley Chisholm (King) during her 1972 bid for the Democratic party’s nomination for president of the United States. The film costars Lucas Hedges, Terrence Howard and André Holland and is directed by John Ridley. “Shirley” is available to stream on Netflix.
