Robert Rizzolo has resigned from his post as chief merchandising officer of Marc Jacobs after four years.

“These years have marked some of the company’s most profitable and transformative eras, and I’m incredibly proud to have been part of it,” Rizzolo wrote on LinkedIn.

Rizzolo couldn’t be reached for comment Wednesday morning, but sources indicated that he has a new job lined up.

In his LinkedIn post, he wrote, “From witnessing Marc’s creative genius come to life backstage each season to helping shape some of the brand’s major milestone moments — the meteoric rise of The Tote Bag, the revival of Stam (a popular bag) and Beauty, the re-launch of Ready-to-Wear, Footwear and Jewelry, the cultural impact of Heaven. Each achievement is a testament to the passion, innovation and drive of this exceptional group of individuals.”

A spokesman for Marc Jacobs confirmed Rizzolo’s departure, but declined to comment on his successor.
