Sabrina Carpenter opted for ’90s flair with her retro Chantal Thomass look for her appearance on “Late Night With Seth Meyers” in New York City on Monday night.

Styled by Jared Ellner, Carpenter wore a look from Chantal Thomass’ fall 1994 ready-to-wear collection. The black-and-white mini frock featured slightly off-the-shoulder long sleeves in black, juxtaposed by a bustline and slim front in ruched white fabric.

The “Man Child” singer paired her look with sky-high Christian Louboutin pumps and accessorized with minimal jewelry pieces, save for delicate silver rings. As for glam, Carpenter’s hair was coiffed in a voluminous look with bouncy curls and a slight fringe to frame her face. Makeup highlights included bold brows and a dark lip.

Carpenter’s dress made its runway debut as part of Thomass’ fall 1994 rtw collection, which was showcased during Paris Fashion Week in March of that year. The dress was originally modeled by Claudia Schiffer, with black tights and buckled black boots executing the final touches of the look.

Founded in 1975, Thomass’ designs favor a boudoir and linger-inspired approach. Thomass left her namesake label in 2018, with Natacha Jacquier-Laforge taking over creative direction. In 2022, the label changed hands, with French businessman Thierry Le Guénic purchasing Groupe Chantelle for an undisclosed sum.

This Chantal Thomass look is the latest in Carpenter’s recent retro style streak. At the Variety Hitmakers event in Los Angeles on Saturday, the Grammy Award-winning singer wore a strapless gown from Ralph Lauren’s spring 2003 collection.

Throughout her “Short n’ Sweet” and “Man’s Best Friend” era of her career, Carpenter has gravitated toward old Hollywood and pin-up style, evocative of a bygone glamour with revitalized contemporary edge.
