After dropping her highly-anticipated “Short n Sweet” album overnight, Sabrina Carpenter released a new music video for her single “Taste” with two notable co-stars: Jenna Ortega and Prada’s Monochrome Soft Matte Lipstick.
The music video opens with Carpenter plucking the Prada lipstick from an assortment of knives — the video references a slew of iconic Halloween thrillers, including “Death Becomes Her” and “Psycho” — and swiping it on, using the blade of a knife as a mirror. This is the second time a Prada lip product has made an appearance in Carpenter’s music videos; the “Please Please Please” video saw the singer apply the TikTok-viral color-changing Prada lip balm in Astral Pink.
Based on our hands-on testing with Prada’s suite of top lipsticks, Carpenter opted for the Monochrome Soft Matte Lipstick rather than the more intensely-pigmented Hyper Matte formula. We can’t confirm the exact shade she’s wearing while battling over a boy with Ortega, but the rich plum shade looks closest to the brand’s Sienne shade.

Interested in testing it out? This beauty writer can attest to how flattering Prada’s lipstick shades are: While the range includes classic pink lipsticks and true red lipsticks, my favorite shades fall somewhere in the middle. Prada has aced the undertones of hard-to-pull-off lip colors like peach, taupe, and auburn to make your next statement lip look, well, more of a statement. The Soft Matte lipstick diffuses beautifully on the lips for a lived-in look; it has a mild intensity that you can build up with a few swipes, and easily smudge out with your fingertips.
