Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s debut signature shoe, the Converse Shai 001, has been one of the year’s most well-received new sneakers. Designed to excel both on an off the court, the Shai 001’s mostly tonal colorways have been a hit at retail with quick sell-throughs that have translated to premiums on the resale market — particularly for the debut Butter style. Soon, a fifth look will join the lineup decked out in holiday colors.
The upcoming “Winter Red” Converse Shai 001 switches things up slightly from the tonal looks seen on the model thus far. While the majority of the sneaker is colored in a bright, candy apple red shade, several details including the Shai 001’s signature zipper and branding are filled in with green. The vibrant Christmas colors represent a shift for the model, which has thus far only been made available in more neutral-leaning tones.

The Shai 001 is one of several recent performance basketball sneakers which have been able to crossover into more casual settings. Other notable examples include Anthony Edwards’ Adidas AE line, James Harden’s revamped Adidas Harden line and Devin Booker’s Nike Book franchise.
Retailing at $130, the Converse Shai 001 Winter Red will be released Dec. 11 at 10 a.m. ET from converse.com and will also be available from select Converse retailers.
