A heat dome is turning Europe into a giant oven this summer and Silvia Tcherassi, alongside her daughter and design director Sophia, are among those baking in Madrid, where their global offices are based. While their resort collection didn’t have much of a traditional Spanish influence (save for the asymmetrical capelets resembling muletas, which matadors use to lure bulls), one could easily imagine the two sipping sangria as the sun sets on Gran Via looking fabulous in their mousseline and hammered silk body-con maxis.

Tcherassi said she was broadly inspired by the golden hour, “that moment in the day when everything transforms. Color becomes richer, warmer, more luminous.” Indeed, her palette seduced with saffron and marigold providing high-contrast to deeper shades of olive and aubergine. Like the matador, Tcherassi’s clothes capture your attention, drawing you in. All the better to appreciate their tactile details like dégradé threads mimicking feathers on a jacket or a banker’s shirt with hand-cut lace appliqués.
