Gone are the days of dark coloring and dead ends — the time for touch-ups, trims and texture is here.
With summer fast approaching, beauty insiders already have their eyes on a few styles that will likely top the hair leaderboard this hot weather season, starting with the bixie. It’s the cut seen and heard around Hollywood — a little bit of bob, a little bit of pixie. “It’s polished but still feels lived-in, like you woke up chic,” said Moroccanoil stylist ambassador Owen Gould.
Speaking of “lived-in,” fellow Moroccanoil ambassador and stylist Bridget Brager believes the summer motto will be “less is more.” Referencing the Chloé Fall 2026 runway, Brager elaborated: “Texture that feels natural, not overworked. Heatless styling just makes sense right now. Less damage, and it works with the hair instead of forcing it. The softness, the slight imperfection, the random braid detail… it feels easy but still intentional.”

Modern Ombré
With 2010s nostalgia burning through the beauty mecca, celebrity colorist and Moroccanoil ambassador Travis Ogletree expects one beloved trend to make an impressive comeback this summer. Enter the modern ombré. Ogletree describes the technique as a fresh take on the gradual color effect. Think heavy balayage, less contrast, low maintenance and “ends that are only two or three shades lighter instead of that bright blond tip-out.”
“What makes it feel fresh now is how natural everyone wants it to look. It’s perfect for the brunette who wants to feel lighter without looking like they really did anything at all,” added the artist.
The Bixie
Buckle up, it’s a bixie girl summer. Perhaps the most talked about haircut, the ultra-short, heavily textured cut isn’t showing signs of slowing anytime soon. Fronted by Zendaya, Jessie Buckley, Rama Duwaji, Gracie Abrams and more, the style is what the bob was to seasons past. “I see short hair having a moment again this season. Light, airy and full of movement,” said Gould.
“It’s polished without trying too hard. A little bend, a little separation, nothing too perfect,” added Brager. To level up the look, the stylist suggests diffusing the ends to highlight natural waves or curls before going in with a 1-inch iron to redefine, “not redo,” the movement.
Rooted Blond
The modern day Carolyn Bessette Kennedy, Sarah Pidgeon is the poster girl for the a new burgeoning blond trend. Dubbed rooted blond, the exposed color technique marks a departure from the previous platinum and bleached blond reign. “What this looks like is a slightly lighter root shadow than the client’s base to allow a seamless grow out,” explained Ogletree. “People still want to feel really bright without the maintenance that is required for being a faux blonde.
“To make sure everything feels connected I often am doing a very subtle face frame highlight to make sure clients feel right around the face,” the architect continued. “And since highlights are trending and blond hair always tends to run a little dry, I recommend swapping in a mask in place of conditioner every other wash to keep the hair feeling its best.”
Lived-in
If the 2026 runways are any indication of the summer trends forecast, bedhead is going to be big. But not the overly tangled, teased and tousled aesthetic that follows a good night’s sleep. It’s the soft, second-day waves seen on almost every model in the Chloé fall 2026 presentation. Braids, socks, silk rods — any heatless mode of styling will do, said Brager. “Finish with a pea-sized amount of MO oil through the lengths for shine and frizz (not the roots), then Moroccanoil texture spray or flexible hairspray for hold. Flip your part slightly to break it up and give it some lift,” she suggested.
C-Curl-Girl
No surprise Gigi Hadid is already popularizing the final trend for summer: the C-Curl-Girl. Coined by her stylist Dimitris Giannetos, the style is a “classic French blowout” with a C-shaped bend at the ends. “Instead of a flat ironed straight hair look, this is a beautiful blowout with a gorgeous bend. It looks great with curtain bangs and a feathery blunt cut,” Giannetos said in the official press release. “This look is very modern and fresh.”
