After official e-commerce images surfaced in January, we knew it was only a matter of time before Supreme’s Nike SB rework of Charles Barkley’s beloved Air Max2 CB 94 would be released and now, the launch is just days away.
The Supreme x Nike SB Air Max2 CB 94 Low will be offered in three colorways: Black/Metallic Silver (style code IM4283-100), Metallic Gold/Varsity Red (style code IM4283-700) and White/Varsity Red (style code IM4283-001). Announced through a photoshoot starring legendary skater Stevie Williams, Supreme’s version of the classic Barkley shoe is subtly branded, allowing the colorways and material selections to do the bulk of the heavy lifting.
Despite a detailed product description from Supreme, it’s still not confirmed what modifications — if any — were made to make the shoe more suitable for skateboarding. Previous Nike SB versions of retro Nikes, such as the Air Jordan 4, Air Max 95 and Air Force 1, have featured both internal and outer changes to give the shoes improved board feel and durability. Aside from aesthetic tweaks such as reflective detailing and branding, the only noticeable alteration is the addition of rough textured overlays on the sides, presumably to make the area more durable.
