Sydney Sweeney embraced the monochromatic trend in her own way while at a recent event. The actress wore a short twist on a tailored suit to attend the opening of NH Newport.
Sweeney opted for grey suiting by Tom Ford, styling the designer’s double-breasted wool blazer with a backless halter vest and a mini skort. She paired the trio with a diamond necklace and a pair of bow-topped pointed-toe heels. Sweeney was styled for the occasion by Molly Dickson, who also curated the “Anyone But You” star’s 2024 Met Gala looks.
“This was Sydney’s first appearance after being away for filming so we were excited to do something different,” Dickson told WWD exclusively of the tailored look. “Like always, we took into consideration the location of the event and this being in Newport we wanted something that was effortless but still elevated for an evening event.”

Dickson also nodded to the fact that suits have been trending strong this past year, with labels such as Schiaparelli, Gucci, Ferragamo, Stella McCarthy, Givenchy, and Prada among others putting forth new interpretations of suiting for fall 2024. “There is such great suiting for fall and I love suits for their inherent flexibility — wear them as a full set or break them up into separates and then do it all over again,” Dickson said, adding, “We had other options that were more cocktail, specifically a bright red cocktail dress, but given the event was with Restoration Hardware we felt this Tom Ford suit set was the perfect complement to the brand’s aesthetic — cool, relaxed but still luxurious.”
Sweeney has stepped out in suiting before: She opted for a mint green take on it in a look by Thom Browne in May 2023 while stopping by the “Today” show to promote her film, HBO‘s “Reality.” Sweeney paired a pastel green blazer with a striped pleated skirt, a polka-dot tie, and ankle socks with pointed-toe heels for the event. Sweeney also elected to wear suiting by Thom Browne in December 2022 to an “Euphoria” FYC event in Los Angeles, with a skirt suit, bow-topped button-up shirt, and tube socks with platform sandals.
