Taylor Swift’s latest Kansas City Chiefs outfit came with a $40 price tag — or rather, the most visible, game day-ready part of her look did.
The singer attended the Chiefs’ game on Sunday, Sept. 20, wearing a red colorblock tank top from Wear by Erin Andrews, bringing together two of 2026’s cool-girl fashion trends: graphic tops and understated fine jewelry.
The former didn’t stick around long. Her $39.99 tank sold out on the Fanatics website during the game “within 15 minutes or so,” Maggie Farrell of Jill Fritzo Public Relations tells WWD, and seems to have sold out at other retailers including Kohl’s and Walmart.

The retro-inspired top featured thin black straps, contrasting trim and distressed white lettering spelling out “Kansas City Chiefs Football,” along with the team’s arrowhead logo and the year 1960. Swift tucked it into light-wash jeans, adding a black leather belt from The Row and her signature red lipstick.
Her jewelry, meanwhile, was considerably more expensive than the clothes. Swift accessorized with a Cartier Love Unlimited bracelet, which retails for $9,400, Dana Rebecca’s $3,995 Alexa Jordyn diamond marquise hoop earrings, a $998 Mejuri Heirloom ring and her old mine-cut diamond engagement ring, designed by Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine Jewelry.
The pieces were relatively understated in appearance, although there’s nothing particularly subtle about the size of her engagement ring.
Swift also wore her wedding band, which got its own moment during the game. After Travis Kelce scored his first touchdown of the season, she pointed to her rings while celebrating from the suite, and, according to multiple lip readers on social media, exclaimed, “That’s my husband!” The Chiefs went on to defeat the Indianapolis Colts 33-30 in overtime.
Beyond the jewelry, Swift’s tank puts her right in the middle of the graphic T-shirt revival, which has brought the printed tops of the early 2000s and 2010s back into fashion. The trend has made its way from casual streetwear to the runway and red carpet, with celebrities increasingly pairing graphic tees with designer clothing and accessories.
As WWD reported in June, Jennifer Lawrence and Sabrina Carpenter have both worn the same yellow Beatles “Strawberry Fields Forever” T-shirt from Junk Food Clothing, another affordable brand found at retailers for more budget-conscious shoppers. Meghan Markle was also spotted in the graphic tee revival trend in early April.
Lawrence paired hers with a cardigan, jeans and Adidas sneakers, while Carpenter dressed it up with a white fur coat. Miley Cyrus went a step further in March, wearing a Hannah Montana T-shirt with a Rabanne chainmail gown at the premiere of the character’s 20th-anniversary special.
Swift, for her part, was already getting in on the trend earlier this year.
In June, Swift attended a New York Knicks game at Madison Square Garden with the Haim sisters, wearing a blue-and-orange “Stevie Knicks” T-shirt. Este and Alana Haim joined in with “Knickelback” and “Knickole Kidman” shirts, respectively, while Mariska Hargitay wore a matching “Stevie Knicks” top.
The shirts weren’t some elaborate designer collaboration, either. Alana Haim reportedly bought blank Gildan shirts for $2.99 apiece and screen-printed them herself. Swift had specifically requested her shirt, even coming up with the Stevie Nicks-inspired pun.
Of course, she didn’t wear it with just any old jeans and sneakers. Swift paired her custom tee with Area jeans, a Dior handbag and Versace heels.
It’s a combination that should look familiar to anyone who’s been following her Chiefs wardrobe. The singer has been mixing team merchandise with luxury fashion since she first started attending games in 2023, although the balance has changed quite a bit over the past three years.
Just six days before Sunday’s appearance, Swift kicked off the 2026 NFL season in a red-and-white gingham polo dress from Gigi Hadid’s Guest in Residence. She wore the $295 dress to the Chiefs’ Sept. 14 game against the Denver Broncos, where she was spotted seated next to Tom Cruise. The red colorway has since sold out.
Her accessories included a Jennifer Meyer bezel tennis bracelet with an illusion-set diamond center, an Effy gold band with a ruby, the brand’s baguette ruby-and-diamond V ring and her Artifex Fine Jewelry engagement ring.
Between the gingham dress and Sunday’s tank, Swift’s first two game-day outfits of the season have been noticeably more relaxed than some of the designer-heavy ensembles she wore in 2024 and 2025.
Interestingly, her earliest Chiefs appearances weren’t all that different.
When Swift attended her first game on Sept. 24, 2023, she wore a red-and-white New Era windbreaker with a white tank top and New Balance 550 sneakers. The $90 jacket reportedly sold out within minutes of her being spotted wearing it.
At another game that October, she wore a second sold-out windbreaker, this time from Wear by Erin Andrews, pairing it with a black tank, leather miniskirt and ankle boots.
Launched in 2019 by Andrews and Constance Schwartz-Morini, Wear was created to offer women officially licensed sports merchandise they could wear beyond the stadium. Swift has been wearing the brand almost as long as she’s been attending Chiefs games, and its windbreakers certainly weren’t the last items she would help sell out.
Her wardrobe, however, became considerably more elaborate as the seasons went on.
For the Chiefs’ September 2024 opener against the Baltimore Ravens, Swift traded her windbreaker for a denim Versace corset, which she paired with Grlfrnd shorts and burgundy Giuseppe Zanotti boots. A month later, she arrived at the team’s game against the New Orleans Saints in a plaid Vivienne Westwood corset and matching miniskirt, complete with platform boots and the designer’s heart-shaped bag.
There were still plenty of Chiefs references mixed in. That September, Swift wore an oversized vintage Chiefs T-shirt as a minidress with thigh-high Giuseppe Zanotti boots and a Louis Vuitton bag. Even when she was wearing team merchandise, she wasn’t exactly leaving the designer accessories at home.
By January 2025, she was practically giving the stadium tunnel a runway show.
Swift attended the Chiefs’ playoff game against the Houston Texans in head-to-toe Chanel, wearing a black-and-white tweed coat over a wool romper, along with a pearl belt and knee-high boots. The following week, she arrived for the AFC Championship Game in Louis Vuitton, pairing a monogrammed knit jacket with a pleated miniskirt and red tights.
Her outfits continued to bounce between designer fashion and sportswear later that year. In October, she wore a custom Ganni jersey-inspired minidress bearing the Chiefs’ name and her favorite number, 13, with Louis Vuitton earrings, a belt from The Row and Vivienne Westwood boots. Later that month, she opted for a red Courrèges turtleneck and leather miniskirt with knee-high boots.
After seasons of corsets, miniskirts and head-to-toe designer ensembles, a gingham polo dress and a $40 tank make for a rather casual start to 2026. That’s not to say Swift has given up her luxury accessories, or that two outfits constitute a permanent wardrobe overhaul. Her Cartier bracelet alone costs more than 200 of those Erin Andrews tanks.
Still, the return to more accessible sportswear brings her game-day wardrobe closer to where it started in 2023. And judging by the response to Sunday’s tank, fans are just as interested in buying her more casual looks.
The latest sellout is hardly an isolated incident. Swift has repeatedly sent affordable products flying off shelves, sometimes with sales figures that would make even the biggest celebrity endorsement deals look impressive.
Remember the glitter freckles she wore to the Chiefs-Saints game in October 2024? After Swift appeared with Fazit’s Gold Speckles makeup patches decorating her cheeks, the brand reported a 3,500 percent increase in direct-to-consumer sales. It shipped 40,000 units through its website and Amazon and generated more than $1 million in sales over the following 48 hours.
Earlier that year, a $14 EB and Co. ring designed to resemble Kelce’s No. 87 jersey sold out after Swift wore it to the AFC Championship Game. A $44 Chiefs necklace from BaubleBar’s collaboration with Wear by Erin Andrews also accumulated a 10,000-person waitlist within a month of her appearance at the same game.
The phenomenon extends beyond football — or Swift, for that matter. The $58 Beatles T-shirt worn by Lawrence and Carpenter also sold out on Junk Food Clothing’s website following their appearances.
But Swift’s Chiefs wardrobe offers a particularly interesting comparison. Her first $90 windbreaker reportedly sold out within minutes back in 2023. Three years, several designer corsets and a considerable amount of diamond jewelry later, she’s back in an affordable piece of team merchandise.
This time, it was a $40 tank. And once again, fans couldn’t get their hands on it fast enough.
